In the heart of the historic capital city of the Free State, Bloemfontein, in the shadows of the world famous Naval Hill lies the SANCA Aurora Alcohol and Drug Centre. The peaceful and comfortable facilities and homely atmosphere offer an ideal environment for recovery.
History
Since its humble beginning in 1966, the Aurora Centre has been involved in the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. Over the last 50 years, we have built the reputation of being a reliable service provider in the field of substance abuse.
Aurora Centre is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 002-770) and is affiliated with the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA). Aurora Centre is also registered as an adult and youth in- and outpatient treatment facility with the Department of Social Development and complies with the minimum norms and standards as prescribed by the Department of Social Development and SANCA. Aurora Centre also carries registration with the Board of Health Funders (Practice number 0051284).

To be the most effective organisation in the prevention and treatment of alcoholism and drug abuse in its constitutional area of the Free State.
Mission
- To enhance the quality of life and restoring the self-respect and dignity of persons affected by alcoholism and drug dependence.
- To establish the knowledge base, skills and values necessary for responsible choices regarding substance use.
Objectives
Primarily:
- To address substance abuse through Community Development, Prevention, Treatment and Capacity Building Services in the area of operation as determined by the functions of the national constitution.
Secondary:
- Strengthen effectivity by sharing resources and establishing active partnerships in the area of operation
